I figured I'd start this blog to keep up with my two blogging buddies. This most exciting time of my life should certainly be documented a little better! I had my first baby, a little girl named Amelia on August 19, 2010 and am thrilled to share pictures and tidbits of our family life.

Amelia has learned to open the refrigerator and freezer doors!

Wanna know her inspiration?

No surprise--last night's frozen Tagalong cookies!  Those Girl Scouts can really get a girl in trouble:)

Day 5--Summer Fashions

Summer sure is a long time coming here in Cordova this year.  For example, when we made our trip out to the Greenhouse for plants Amelia was decked out head to toe in multiple layers.
She had a great time with all of the flowers!  I had a 'Genius Mommy' moment when I realized for $5 she could walk around with one plant instead of picking the flowers off of all the others!  She walked around the whole time I shopped with this pack of marigolds...I love having a helper that shares all of my interests!

Where else in the world is it completely appropriate to knit with wool all year around!?!?! If I think about it in the right way, living in a cold, dreary rainforest just means I always have the perfect weather for knitting:)

This scarf I am working on is still on the needles, but is a 007 present for this weekend.  I love the aran weight Trabajos del Peru yarn from Plymouth Yarns.  It is the heaviest weight yarn I have used and it feels so good!  I do plan on going back to the NetLoft (darn it, I thought I was done for a while:) and getting a more neutral color palette to knit one for myself.  The pattern is fun, one I got off Ravelry and it is knitting up so cozy!

Fashion Week--Day 4

Today, I present you with Amelia's exploration into Body Art!  Every chance she gets she'll turn the markers on herself, and proclaim "Preddty!"  This particular day I was upstairs cleaning the bathroom floor like Cinderella.  I was sure she was watching one of her favorite shows, I could hear her talking to herself and I was convinced I was having a magical Mom--accomplishing things/Toddler--entertaining herself moment.  Well, I was half right!

She was so cute! And I had to remind myself that she wasn't taking the markers to the wall (...yet...) so, we just took pictures and laughed about it--what else to do?!?!

Fashion Week--Day 3

Notice how Amelia has learned to "cheese" for the camera now?!?!

Today, Amelia is modeling an all original outfit!  The sweater I made many moons ago for another baby and is now in hand-me down status.  It does, however, match perfectly with Amelia's homemade pants!  It is wacky fabric--Chris thinks they look like Starsky and Hutch pants--but somehow a toddler can pull it off.

The pattern is from Oliver + S which I adore.  All of their patterns are so charming and easy to follow.  I am having a ball making clothes for Amelia.  I have two other patterns cut out and waiting to construct.  These pants have pockets (which are a hit!) and fit really very well.  The greatest compliment was when I told my sister-in-law that I made the pants Amelia is wearing and she said, "really? They don't look homemade."

Fashion Week--Day 2

So, I'm a day behind on introducing what I'd like to call Fashion Week...I've been "dilly dallying" (technical term) so hard I haven't had time to blog. But I have been turning out finished products and starting new ones left and right.  Oh, I've been busy, busy having fun.

To start off the week, Amelia is modeling her first ever noodle necklace, shown here in the colors of turquoise, caliente, and tangerine.

I had quite the afternoon planned for Amelia and her cousin.  To my chagrin, baby cousin decided to nap away her visit.  In an extreme plea for Amelia to please leave her cousin alone, "she sleepin'...shhhh..." we went ahead and had craft time anyways.

Sweater Update (Fashion Week--Day 1)

So, it has been weeks of me slubbing around the house in my new sweater!  Oops...I love it, and have been tinkering around with the idea of even splurging on the brand-name recommended yarn for the next pattern I knit.  Instead of it being a house sweater, it might be my steppin' out sweater.

Two Weeks

Wow! I can't believe nearly two weeks has gone by already.  There has been so much adjustment around here, I've just been going with the flow and enjoying it all.  We haven't been accomplishing a whole lot...lots of puttering around and little mini-projects.  We've been endeavoring into Spring Cleaning, but that seems like it goes at a whole different pace than it did pre-toddler (a little here, a little there, back to the beginning all over again--vicious cycle!).

For fun, I've been baking and crafting (Surprise!).  I did finish (!!!) my KnitBot sweater this weekend, but forgot to get a picture snapped before my photographer went fishing--will update you soon! I like the way it fits and am so proud that this is my first wearable sweater I have made myself--success!

These are Pesto Pinwheels, my very own invention! I have always had a half-serious dream to have a bakery and in addition to the sweets I would have savory cinnamon roll type buns.  This is my first attempt, and they were to die for.  They are dinner roll dough coated in pesto and then rolled up and topped with mozzarella cheese.  Oh yeah, watch out for bacon/cheddar and spring vegetable combos to come:)

This was the tail end of my Graduation Party.  Chris and Shannon surprised me with a surprise party, from scratch chocolate cake and champagne.  As usual we had a great time, and I am happy we did something to celebrate the day.
Amelia and I made a trip out to the mudflats at Hartney Bay.  I call it the "beach"...we collect shells and play in the water...so technically, it is a beach (hat and coat and all)!?!?!

Sadly, we had a kamikaze hummingbird, but Amelia and I had a great time checking it out.

This is Amelia's newest friend, Genevieve.  She is a year younger than Amelia, almost to the day but they had lots of fun and enjoyed doing just about all of the same stuff together during her visit.
